OUR MISSION STATEMENT:
"At the end of
a safari with us, we hope that Tanzania will be deeply and
passionately imbedded in your heart as it is in ours."
Chris & Catriona Harker
"Discover
Tanzania Expect the Unexpected!"
Catriona
and Chris Harker are retired school administrators from
Victoria, Canada. Their love for and association with Tanzania began
in 1969 when they both went there to teach. When they left in 1972,
they were determined one day to return.
Their wish was
fulfilled after they both retired. Since 2001 they have organized
and escorted more than a score of safaris to “safe and friendly”
Tanzania. Their knowledge of the country, their passion for its
people and their well honed communication skills bring a unique and
profound dimension to their safaris. If you want more from a trip
than “just seeing animals” then this is the safari for you.
In addition to escorting safaris, Chris and Catriona
volunteer at least twice a year for the Canadian Harambee Education
Society (CHES), an NGO whose mandate is to provide a secondary
education for young women in the remote town of Katesh. They also
take CHES sponsors in to Katesh after their safaris to visit their
girls or the project. ( To learn more about CHES, visit
www.canadianharambee.ca)
Chris’s book WHITE NECKLACE (2008) provides a
sensitive portrait of young people in
contemporary Tanzania inspired by the Harker’s
experiences in Katesh
Copies are $20 with all proceeds going to
CHES. Contact Chris or Catriona
at 250 656 9229 or
